Gordon Village

Our trustees are local volunteers who give their time to help ensure the charity is run responsibly and in the interests of the community. Trustees are not paid for their role — they serve Gordon because they care about the village.

What Trustees Do

Trustees work together as a Board to provide overall stewardship of the charity. This includes setting strategic direction and safeguarding assets, ensuring the Common Good can continue to operate effectively over the long term.

Trustees are not responsible for running day-to-day activities; instead they focus on setting the framework within which volunteers and sub-committees can operate. Decisions are taken collectively by the Board rather than by individual trustees, which helps ensure that decisions are balanced and well-considered.

Our Board

Trustees bring a mix of backgrounds and experience to the Board. This diversity strengthens decision making and helps the Board reflect the community it serves.

Whilst we have the maximum number of trustees permitted by our constitution, we are always keen to hear from people who care about the village and would like to play a part in supporting community life — whether through helping with events and activities over the course of the year or in other practical ways. You do not need prior experience.

Responsibilities

Trustees have legal responsibilities under charity law and are expected to act with integrity. They follow the organisation's agreed code of conduct, which supports appropriate behaviour and protects both volunteers and the organisation itself.
