Here you can find an overview of how Gordon Common Good SCIO is governed. These arrangements support transparent and responsible operation in the interests of the community.
How the Common Good Is Governed
Gordon Common Good SCIO is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation governed by a Board of volunteer trustees. Trustees act collectively and in accordance with the organisation's constitution, including safeguarding assets and ensuring the charity operates in the community's best interests. The Board does not manage day-to-day activity unless required.
Trustees and Decision Making
Decisions are taken collectively by the Board rather than by individual trustees. This approach helps ensure decisions are balanced and carefully considered. Trustees follow agreed procedures for meetings and decision making.
Sub-Committees and Delegated Responsibility
The Board may establish sub-committees for specific areas of work. These groups operate with a clear remit and are empowered to plan and deliver their activities with real ownership and initiative. The Board provides light-touch oversight to ensure that delegated activity remains aligned with the organisation's aims.
Financial Oversight and Shared Services
The Board is responsible for ensuring that the charity's finances are managed responsibly, including setting financial controls and overseeing income and expenditure. Where possible, shared services are used to reduce duplication and lower costs for the community.
Standards of Conduct
Trustees and sub-committee members are expected to act with integrity. Codes of conduct support appropriate behaviour and protect both volunteers and the organisation itself.
