Gordon Community Woodland Trust · Registered Charity SC033128
Just east of the village, off the Greenlaw road, there's a wood that belongs to Gordon. Not to a company or an estate — to the community. Gordon Community Woodland has been in local hands since 2002, looked after by volunteers, and it's free for everyone to walk, wander and enjoy.
It's a big, gentle place: around 85 hectares (just over 200 acres) of mostly broadleaved woodland, with quiet paths, a pond, open glades and plenty of room to breathe.

A wood for everyone
Whether you're a regular walker or visiting for the first time, you're welcome. There's level, accessible walking near the car parks, longer paths for those who fancy a proper stretch, and good spots for families — a pond for pond-dipping, benches and picnic tables dotted about, and space for children to roam.
Lending a hand
The wood only stays the way it is because people give their time to it. The Trust always welcomes new faces — at work days, at events, or simply as members. You don't need any experience, just a bit of enthusiasm.
About the Trust
The wood is cared for by the Gordon Community Woodland Trust, a registered Scottish charity (SC033128) run entirely by local volunteers. The Trust's job, in its own words, is to conserve, regenerate and manage the woodland for the benefit of the community and the wider public — and to keep it open and welcoming for everyone.
People come to walk the dog, push a pram round the all-abilities trail, watch for red squirrels, or simply sit by the water for a while.
Keep in touch
The Trust shares news, work days and event dates on its Facebook page — the best place to find out what's happening in the wood right now.
